UAE University launches Masters and Doctoral programs in medicine

Al Ain, Jun 30th, 2010 — The UAE University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences announced today the launching of its first Masters and Doctoral programs.

A press conference held at the University to announce the launch was attended by Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Bani Yas, Associate Dean for Scientific Research and Higher Studies Dr. Siham Al-Din, Undersecretary of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Dr. Rose Langer and other senior officials at the University.

Shedding light on the undergraduate programs and master’s and doctoral degrees offered for the year 2010 – 2011 by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the UAE University- an internationally recognized leading National College of medical education and scientific research – Professor Dr. Mohammed Yousef Bani Yas said that the program in Medicine and Surgery spans 6 years for holders of general secondary certificates and 4 years for the holders of a B.Pharm degree, or Master of Public Health, and Master of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology or Toxicology.

The doctoral program will be offered in Anatomy, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology and pathology, Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Physiology, Cancer Biology, Genetics, neuroscience and public health.

The Bachelor program in medicine and surgery is limited to UAE citizens only while the other programs will be open to all.
