Yemen to vaccinate the children at the Almezraq refugee camp

yemen-war-kidsHARADH, 19th November 2009 Yemen’s minister of Public Health and Population Abdul Karim Ras’a and governor of Hajjah province Farid Mujawar launched on Thursday a campaign to vaccinate the children at the Almezraq refugee camp against measles.

The three-day campaign targets 1880 under-five children of those who fled along with their families the persistent war as the army continues to cleanse the north of the Houthi insurgents.

Meanwhile, Ras’a inspected progress on the construction of a new camp for the refugees from the war in Haradh city on the Yemeni-Saudi border.

The camp receives finance from the UAE Red Crescent.

On the other side, a meeting was held on Thursday in the city chaired by Ras’a that reviewed a number of reports on the conditions of the refugees as well as measures to meet their needs.

The meeting also raised the topic of the construction of a third refugee camp to accommodate further refugees, urging international agencies, specifically the UNHCR, to build it.

Hajjah governor Farid Mujawar, Deputy minister of Roads and Public Works and the representative of humanitarian agencies in Yemen Guhlam Popal Rabani attended the meeting.
