Tough measures have so far kept the infection rate at less than one per cent of the population, said Health Minister Dr Faisal Al Hamer.
He also insisted the government’s budget was enough to combat any future outbreak of the H1N1 virus, during a meeting of MPs and Shura Council members yesterday.
The news came as two private schools were shut for a week, as three pupils tested positive for swine flu.
Two were at Naseem International School and the third at the French School, officials from the Health and Education Ministries confirmed last night.
The schools will be closed for a week, but three days of this will be the Eid holiday anyway.
Officials said all three cases were ‘mild’ and that the children were under home isolation, not in hospital.
