Speaking at the opening of the 21st Congress of the International Academy of Pathology – Arab Division yesterday, Dr Al Hamer said a team from Canadian Accreditation is now in Bahrain working with officials to get the accreditation in place.
“Hopefully, this will be in place in the next week.”
The congress is being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, under the patronage of the minister and is organised by the Bahrain Association of Pathologists (BAP).
Dr Al Hamer said several other new initiatives are being put in place at Bahrain’s only government hospital. “A partnership with the private sector to treat some patients and look after some others is also being worked out, the details of which will be revelled soon.”
The minister said it was a great honour for Bahrain to hold this important conference.
“Pathologists are an important part of the medical profession and a filed which is depended upon by everyone in the filed,” he said. “Thiers is a critical part of the diagnosis process.”
BAP chairman Dr Abdulla Darwish said the congress, over the three day event, will feature a highly educative scientific programme to cover various disciplines in pathology.
“Many renowned International and regional speakers will share their knowledge and experience at the forum to make this a successful event.
“We have also prepared an interesting social programme to satisfy the candidates and their company.”
