SCH urged to name fake medical practitioners

DOHA: Several members of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) have called on the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) to announce the names of doctors who were found to be practising in the country with fake medical documents.

The issue was raised during a meeting of the CMC on Tuesday. Some members called for a detailed discussion on the issue in one of the forthcoming meetings of CMC.

“This is a serious issue. We want to know how the authorities allowed such doctors to practice in the country, posing a serious threat to public health and safety. This clearly indicates the weaknesses in the system,” said Ibrahim Al Ibrahim, a member.

“We have to discuss this issue in detail in one of our meetings,” he added.

Saad Al Nuaimi, another member said, people had the right to know the names of these doctors since they had treated many people and given medical prescriptions to many.

Nasser bin Abdullah Al Kaabi, who chaired the session said the issue will be raised to the CMC General Secretariat to decide whether further discussions are to be held.

If the Secretariat decides to have a special session on the issue, officials from the SCH will be invited to that meeting, he added.
