Welcare Hospital receives accreditation from leading healthcare authority

Welcare Hospital, one of the region’s leading healthcare providers operated by EHL Management Services, has now been officially granted the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, the leading industry benchmark for measuring the delivery of quality healthcare. The checklist for accreditation includes over 350 factors, ranging from surgical hygiene and anaesthesia procedures to the quality of medical staff and nurses.

As the international division of Joint Commission Resources, JCI has been working with healthcare organisations, ministries of health, and global organisations in over 80 countries since 1994. The association focuses on improving the safety of patient care through the provision of accreditation and certification services, as well as through advisory and educational services aimed at helping organizations implement practical and sustainable solutions.

“We are thrilled to receive this accreditation and will continue to strive to provide our patients with the best services possible,” commented Sakkie Van Der Vyver, Hospital Director, Welcare Hospital.

JCI surveyors visited the hospitals to carry out their inspections earlier this year. Preparation for the accreditation started one year before the inspection date, with a special internal committee being formed which revised the operational policies and procedures, conducted trainings or upgraded medical equipment to comply with the JCI standards.

Welcare Hospital’s patients can now be assured that the hospital is complying with international standards in areas such as: access and continuity of care, patient and family rights, medication management and use, quality improvement and patient safety, prevention and control of infections, facility management & safety and staff qualifications & education.
