UAE delegation visits Al Khor Hospital

Doha: Al Khor Hospital recently hosted, a visiting team of social care leaders from United Arab Emirates (UAE), which included Sheikh Khaled Al Kamda, General Manager of the Community Development Authority (CDA), Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Buti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of CDA Community Care Sector and Mr Ghassan Khalil, Consultant Social Polices, CDA.

The visiting delegation was received by Mohamed Al Jusaiman, Executive Director of Al Khor Hospital, Dr Mohamed Ilias Khan, Consultant and Head of Maternity and Childhood Welfare Section and other senior staff members of AKH. Al Jusaiman explained that the visiting CDA delegation were interested in the activities of the Maternity and Childhood Welfare Department of the hospital. He stated that although HMC is a public corporation, the quality of services it provides outmatches their counterparts in the private sector.

This success has enhanced HMC’s reputation and has been further cemented by its reaccreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI).

Dr Mohamed Ilias Khan delivered a medical lecture on the vital role played by Maternity and Childhood Welfare Department in healthcare and social awareness, indicating that this department is considered to be the first of its kind within the Gulf region.

H E Sheikh Khaled Al Kamda, Director General , CDA highlighted the role played by the CDA to enhance the UAE’s national identity, to establish constructive relationships between the individuals of the community and to educate them on their own rights as well as the rights of others. Furthermore, Sheikh Al Kamda stated that the CDA aims to empower individuals and encourage them to actively engage in community affairs.

One of the aims of Sheikh Al Kamda’s visit was to be acquainted with the community and healthcare practices carried out by HMC. Discussions centred on the most appropriate and positive means to be adopted in resolving social problems, particularly orphans and their sponsorship, how to deal with their situations after reaching adolescence and how to avoid possible future misdemeanors.

The delegation were taken on a tour of Al Khor hospital, where Dr Mohamed Ilias Khan spoke about the achievements and aspirations of the Maternity and Childhood Welfare Department. Sheikh Al Kamda further confirmed the CDA’s endeavors to establish a solid and enduring partnership with HMC especially with the Maternity and Childhood Welfare Section of Al Khor Hospital. This relationship will be fulfilled through the sharing of ideas and repeated visits to the hospital.
