The winners will be announced 31 May 2010, the day before the three-day Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition & Congress will take place at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Winners will receive their awards at the event.
UAE-based RAK Hospital, an advanced secondary care multispecialty hospital managed by Swiss Sonnenhof and co-owned by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah and ETA Star Healthcare, has been nominated for Best Healing Environment.
“We have constantly aimed to provide highest quality of patient care since our inception two and half years ago. We truly believe that the environment can play a major contributory factor in the overall recovery of the patient. To be nominated for this category further validates our philosophy,” says Raza Siddiqui, executive director, ETA Star Healthcare.
Despite the economic slowdown the UAE healthcare market is expected to grow from Dh11.7 billion in 2005 to Dh43.7 billion in 2015, according to a recent report by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As the healthcare industry thrives and grows there is a need to recognise and reward industry leaders and innovators.
IIR Middle East, the organisers of Hospital Build Middle East 2010, worked with a respected panel of judges from around the world, including Ted Jacobs, president and founder of Ted Jacobs Engineering Group from the USA, Malek El Husseini, business development director, GE Healthcare Middle East, Dr Joel Nobel, founder and president emeritus, ECRI Institute, and Lisa Little Matthews, international accreditation consultant at Accreditation Canada.
The panel examined nominations submitted by healthcare facilities from around the Middle East region to build the shortlist for the five award categories including: Best Hospital Design – Built or Future; Best Physical Environment – Built; Best Sustainable Hospital Project; Best Healing Environment; and Best Hospital Building Regulations.
Organised by the team behind Arab Health, the region’s largest annual gathering for healthcare professionals, the Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition and Congress (www.hospitalbuild-me.com) will bring investors, commissioners, backers and managers of major healthcare building projects together with planning, design, building, operations, management and refurbishment suppliers.
