Emaar Healthcare Group launches ‘Grand Rounds’ continuing medical education programme on Jan. 27

• First lecture to be led by Dr. Heitham Hassoun on ‘Management of Peripheral Arterial Disease in the Primary Care Setting’
• Event is open for all healthcare professionals; AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM is available to participants through The Methodist Hospital System.

Dubai, UAE; January 26, 2010: Emaar Healthcare Group, the healthcare subsidiary of Emaar Properties, in association with Methodist International, a subsidiary of The Methodist Hospital, will organise its first continuing medical education programme, Grand Rounds, on January 27, 2010 in an effort to bridge the gap in quality healthcare delivery by arming physicians with the information to provide their patients with the best possible care.

The lecture series will provide healthcare professionals in the region an opportunity to maintain professional certification and create a forum for an open exchange of best practices and knowledge transfer between physicians. Grand Rounds will flag off with a lecture by world-renowned cardiovascular surgeon and programme course director, Dr. Heitham Hassoun, on ‘Management of Peripheral Arterial Disease in the Primary Care Setting’ at The Address Dubai Marina Constellation Ballroom at 9.30pm.

The event is open for all healthcare professionals in the region, and registration will open at 8.30pm. AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM or certificate of participation is available to all participants through The Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Hassoun is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Methodist Debakey Heart and Vascular Center and Medical Director of the EMEA region for Methodist International He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Heart Association and the Society for Vascular Surgery. He was instrumental in developing endovascular programs at global affiliates of Johns Hopkins Medicine International.

The CME programme by Emaar Healthcare Group and Methodist International is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, the US-based organisation that sets standards for quality continuing medical education.
