Senator Wolf will be accompanied by Professor Günter Stock, the spokesman of the Health Capital Berlin-Brandenburg network and president of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science; as well as high-ranking representatives of Vivantes, Biotronik, the German Heart Center Berlin, aap, Centrovital, Medical Park AG, Maritim Hotels Berlin, and Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH.
Senator Wolf said of the trip, “The Berlin-Brandenburg capital city region is one of the most innovative and powerful centers of the healthcare industry of Germany and indeed Europe. Our companies are extremely interested in forging economic ties with the Gulf region, a move that I support politically. The aim of my trip will be to entrench and expand the contacts that have been established in years gone by. In particular, I hope that my talks will be help to strengthen and broaden the long-established trade relations of the partners that will be accompanying me.
The theme of the joint Berlin-Brandenburg booth at the Arab Health trade fair will be ‘cardiovascular disease’, one of the biggest health problems in the Gulf region as elsewhere. The delegation from in and around the German capital will comprise a specialist consortium on the chosen field, offering a comprehensive package of solutions.
“Four years ago the Berlin-Brandenburg healthcare industry decided to focus particular attention on the Arab world,” Professor Stock says. “This provides the Berlin-Brandenburg economy with extraordinary opportunities for exporting its health-based services. This is primarily the case for Berlin healthcare companies like Vivantes and the Charité teaching hospital, but also for the excellent rehabilitation services available in the state of Brandenburg.”
The Berlin-Brandenburg business delegation will not exclusively be seeking to cooperate on healthcare, rather it will also be offering to collaborate in the realm of education and training for healthcare professionals.
To this end, Senator Wolf will be meeting not only with the health ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, but also with the relevant ministers responsible for school and university education. In Abu Dhabi talks are also scheduled with S. E. Abdulla bin Mohamed Al Masaood, the chairman of the National Consultative Council. While in Riyadh Senator Wolf will meet with His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the governor of Riyadh.
The trade fair attendance and trade delegation were organized jointly by HealthCapital and Berlin Partner GmbH.
“The German capital region’s healthcare industry has a huge potential for innovation and growth. Arab Health is one of the most significant trade fairs in this sector, and an important platform on which to present the capital city region,” says Berlin Partner Managing Director René Gurka. “Good marketing is especially important in the Gulf region. That is why our new trade fair design is intended to convey the message that Berlin is the place to be.”
