RIYADH: The Ministry of Health (MoH) and the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Sunday.
The MOU involves training health officials in Information Technology in order to facilitate e-health services to citizens and residents of the Kingdom. The MOU was signed by Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah and GOTEVOT Gov. Ali Al-Ghafis at ministry in Riyadh.
“This is a program to be implemented in line with the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah who is keen on switching to e-government,” Dr. Rabeeah said in his address.
“This is a good opportunity to exchange experience with both organizations in providing e-health services to citizens as well as residents in the Kingdom.” The ministry, he said dealt with a wide area of administrative, technical and clinical data that should be stored and used subsequently for its e-health services. “We want our staff to be well trained in the relevant sector in order to execute their functions at all levels,” he said, stressing that the ministry aimed to develop a paper-free environment in all its administrative work.
In his remarks, Dr. Ghafis explained that the MOU was valid for three years and that the intended programs with the ministry of health would be available in polytechnic institutes and technical colleges throughout the Kingdom. “The curricula of some of the institutes are designed solely for the vocational needs of women.” He pointed out that under the MOU, his organization would make available all its resources and facilities in order to provide training for both men and women health officials recommended for programs by the health ministry . “ We are also happy that we are cooperating with the ministry of health on the road to e-government.”
