Siemens Healthcare Acquisitions to Add to Earnings Next Year

Sept. 18 (Bloomberg) Siemens AG, Europe’s largest engineering company, still expects its large acquisitions in healthcare to add to earnings in the next fiscal year.

“This target stands firmly,” Siemens spokesman Wolfram Trost said by telephone. Earlier today, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported doubts about meeting the goal, citing an interview with Hermann Requardt, the chief of Siemens’ healthcare business.

Trost confirmed that two-thirds of 500 million euros ($735 million) in targeted costs and productivity improvements from acquisitions have been reached, leaving one-third to be accomplished next fiscal year. Siemens bought Dade Behring Holdings Inc., Diagnostics Products Corp. and Bayer AG’s diagnostic unit.
