Diabetes is growing at an alarming rate across the globe. The statistics from the Gulf region is even more alarming. One individual out of every five is living with the condition.
More serious, however, is that 50 per cent of those living with Type 2 diabetes are not even aware of their condition. In this scenario, with the motto of spreading a word of precaution and to offer medical advice and check up, a walkathon themed “Beat Diabetes” under the auspices of the Ministry of Health will be held on Friday at 7 am from Centrepoint Ruwi.
Initiated by Landmark Group and supported by KIMS Oman Hospital, Oman Oasis and FitBody — Diet and Fitness Centre a free blood sugar tests on diabetes for the participants will be conducted by KIMS.
The registration for the walk is free and is now open across Oman at any of the Centerpoint, Home Centre, Max and Emax outlets. The registered participants will be given T-Shirts and Caps at the venue before the walk.
