Abdullah Al-Dhibyani, the director of Yanbu’s Al-Nakhel Hospital, has said that his rejection of a bribe has led directly to significant improvements in standards of cleanliness at the hospital.
Al-Dhibyani said he was offered a bribe by a cleaning and maintenance company contracted with the Ministry of Health shortly after his appointment eight months ago in exchange for signing off on monthly payments to the company for works not executed.
He said he had worked with the authorities to catch a representative of the company in the act as the money was handed over.
“The case is still under investigation by the authorities. My involvement ended after I reported it to the Administrative Investigations Department,” he said.
“The state rewards its employees with good salaries, so it is left to staff to work diligently and with integrity,” he said.
