GE Healthcare has agreed to purchase Wilmington, Mass.-based ONI Medical System’s musculoskeletal MRI equipment business for an undisclosed amount, according to a news release.
The acquisition is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to expand global patient access to affordable medical technology, GE officials said. ONI’s musculoskeletal MRI scanners are small and designed specifically for extremity imaging.
As a part of the division purchase, GE Healthcare will also acquire ONI’s MRI research and development team. The deal is subject to customary review and closing conditions and is expected to close by year’s end.
