Parametric Technology Corp., a Needham-based company that refers to itself as PTC, said that GE Healthcare has selected PTC’s Windchill product lifecycle management software to replace GE’s legacy data management software.
PTC’s focus is on developing and marketing product lifecycle management software applications designed to help companies to become more efficient.
GE Healthcare is a unit of General Electric Co. whose specialties include manufacturing medical devices.
According to PTC, its software is well-suited to medical device makers.
“Medical device manufacturers face tough challenges, including the demand for constant innovation, compliance with strict regulatory requirements, time-to-market pressures, and intense competition,” PTC said in a press release. “PTC’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software delivers critical content and process management capabilities that support demanding regulatory requirements, such as electronic records and signatures, document control and change control, and auditing.”
