DOHA, Qatar & DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, February 8, 2010: The Supreme Council of Health, Qatar (SCH) today announced that it has signed an exclusive long term agreement with Prometric, the world’s leading provider of technology-enabled testing and assessment services, for global exam delivery.
Collaborating with Prometric as its test services partner, SCH will completely eliminate paper and pencil exams from its testing operation and will convert all of its exams to a computer-based format. Computerizing the examinations will make English-language medical examinations newly available in Qatar. Delivering the exams over Prometric’s global test center network will also make them widely accessible globally, and ensure availability to all potential test takers in most areas of the world.
The SCH has helped to establish modern, state-of-the-art healthcare institutions and has paved the path for health practitioners in all the health sciences. The SCH is also tasked with formulating proper standards and criteria for practicing and developing the health professions.
“Our partnership with Prometric is another significant step forward in fulfilling our mission to protect the health and safety of the public of Qatar by ensuring all licensing health practitioners are competent and fit to practise,” said Dr. Jamal Rashid Khanji, SCH”s Acting Director of Medical Licensing. “We are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Prometric as we work toward our vision of building the leading medical regulatory authority in the region.”
David Grinham, Prometric’s Vice President and General Manager, Europe and Middle East, stated, “We are elated that we have been chosen as a partner to work with the Supreme Council of Health. Our partnership will ensure that a high standard of care is maintained in the region and will position Qatar as a leader in attracting medical talent. Relying on Prometric to develop the new medical exams is truly representative of the confidence the SCH has in our ability to help them advance their brand, program and standards in Qatar and around the world.”
