Michelle Obama, according to reports has launched the Apps for Healthy Kids competition to challenge software and game designers, students and others to develop electronic tools and games that aid kids and their parents in eating better and being more physically active.
The competition is part of Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign, which is dedicated to ending childhood obesity in a generation.
Contestants will compete by finding ways to use USDA’s MyPyramid 1,000 food database to teach children about the importance of good nutrition and health. They also are encouraged to design creative tools that parents can use to instantly access simple nutritional information when planning meals for their children.
