On March 10th, Welcare Clinics and The City Hospital will offer free testing, advice and support for those concerned about glaucoma
Dubai, UAE, XX March 2010 – EHL Management Services, a leading provider of healthcare in the Middle East, will be marking World Glaucoma Day this year by offering free testing for glaucoma to the public on March 10th, at The City Hospital, Welcare Ambulatory Care Centre, Welcare Clinic Mirdif, Welcare Clinic Qusais and Emirates Diagnostic Clinic.
The free glaucoma testing, which includes an intra ocular eye pressure check, an optic nerve check and indicators for glaucoma check, aims to create awareness about glaucoma and to alert UAE residents to the importance of undergoing regular testing for the condition, which is often a direct result of diabetes and, if left untreated, can lead to blindness.
“At EHL, we believe in supporting a range of international causes that aim to bring attention to some of the most prevalent yet treatable diseases and health conditions that affect the lives of those in our local communities,” said Dr. Lisa Pinto, Group Manager Clinics.
“In view of the fact that one fifth of the UAE’s residents suffer from diabetes, the need to raise awareness about conditions like glaucoma – which is often caused by the disease – becomes very clear. We want to send a clear message out on World Glaucoma Day that all residents in the UAE can lead a normal and healthy life, if they are aware about such health issues, and are proactive about testing for them and in taking measures to prevent their onset.”
