Collaborative efforts are needed to reform medical education to meet the future challenges in the healthcare sector.
These views were expressed by health educationists at an inaugural session of a two-day conference on Building Bridges for Medical Education Reforms, organised by the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) at its Ojha campus, here on Saturday.
More than 60 principals and deans from various medical colleges and universities of the country attended the conference.
Addressing conference, President Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) Prof Syed Sibitul Hasnain said there was a dire need to make collective efforts to improve undergraduate medical education along with carrying out reforms in curriculum at own institutions individually.
He said it was the obligation of all concerned to ensure provision of best possible teaching and training to the students to make them enable to cope with the demands of the healthcare in the future. Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof. Masood Hameed Khan said that the conference provided an opportunity to develop understanding for taking latest initiative and innovation in the medical education and bring solution to education problems.
Dean Faculty of Medicine DUHS Prof Salahuddin Afsar said that medical education was undergoing rapid changes throughout the world, so there was need to adopt a positive approach towards it in the country too. haris hanif
