Saleh Al-Khalyawi, Director General of Saudi Customs, has said that a “single window” scheme has been launched to bring representatives from government departments, private laboratories, handling firms and banks together under one roof to accelerate customs procedures.
“Customs are currently working, following the new budget allocations, to complete its plan for x-ray inspections and container, truck and small vehicle inspections,” Al-Khalyawi said.
“The new budget gives huge financial impetus and shows the concern of the leadership for the welfare of its people, particularly in sectors that have a direct impact on them such as security, health, education and roads which have been given the largest share of the budget.”
He described the allocation to the Customs Authority as “excellent”.
“We have a number of projects being worked on that were begun last year and will require more than a year to finish,” he said.
“The customs sector finds continuous support due to its economic, security, and social importance and its direct effect on trade and industry in the Kingdom and abroad.”
