The Director General of the DHA and the Deputy chairman of the Dubai Sports Council announced today the formation of a Sports Medical Committee for the Emirate of Dubai.
H. E. Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the DHA and H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board, Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council made this announcement during a press conference held today at the DHA headquarters.
The aim of the committee is to upgrade the medical standards followed across all government sports clubs in the Emirate of Dubai and to ensure safety of players during sports tournaments taking place in Dubai.
The responsibilities of the Sports Medical Committee include ensuring safety of players during tournaments, planning emergency protocols during such tournaments and checking the medical reports of players before the tournaments to ensure they are fit to play.
It also includes assuring that medical coverage is provided for all players taking part in sports events.
In addition to this, the committee will be responsible to further improve the safety standards across all government sports clubs in Dubai. The DHA shall provide training to all medical professionals working in government sports clubs to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest knowledge in sports medicine. In cases where a sports player is injured and requires specialized treatment, the committee will also be consulted to decide whether the player should be sent abroad for medical treatment.
The committee will also be responsible to study the latest trends in the sports medical sector and evaluate whether such trends need to be incorporated to improve the standard of safety of players as well as sports clubs.
The Chair of the Sports Medical Committee is Dr Ramadan Ibrahim, Director of DHA Health Regulation and the deputy director of the committee is Naser Aman Al-Rahma, Director of Culture & Social Activities Dept in the Dubai Sports Council.
Other committee members include Dr. Layla Mohamed Al-Marzouqi, Dr Abdulhameed Mohammad Al Aattar, Huda Ali Ebrahim and Dr Nahed Mansouf from the DHA, Dr Fahad Al Zarouni, from the Dubai Ambulance Centre, Mr Abdel Adeem Kamkar from the Dubai Police and Dr Murad Al Garayri.
