The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser yesterday visited Vienna General Hospital, an affiliate of the Medical University of Vienna.
At the outset of the visit, which came as part of their official visit to the Republic of Austria, the Emir and Sheikha Moza attended a presentation given by a number of officials in the hospital and the company in charge of technical operation.
The presentation included a briefing on the hospital, its sections, the health services it provides and the scientific and educational programmes offered by the Medical University of Vienna. The presentation also included a briefing on the development of the health sector in Austria in general.
Afterwards, they toured a number of sections as well as the medical and research laboratories of the hospital.
The Emir and Sheikha Moza attended the celebration concert by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the invitation of President of Austria Heinz Fischer and his wife Margit Fischer yesterday.
The Emir and Sheikha Moza yesterday accompanied by Fischer and his wife, visited the Cathedral of St Stephen in the Austrian capital.
They toured the cathedral and listened to a briefing on its history and major contents.
The Emir met with chief executive of Austria’s oil and gas group OMV Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer at his residence in Viennna yesterday.
Talks during the audience dealt with a set of issues of mutual concern. The audience was attended by a number of their excellencies the members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir.
The Emir and Sheikha Moza left Vienna yesterday wrapping up a three-day visit to the Republic of Austria.
The Emir sent a cable to Austrian President in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm hospitality accorded to him, to Sheikha Moza and the accompanying delegation during the visit.
