Environmental Tectonics Corp’s (ETC) Biomedical Systems Group has sold Bara-Med monoplace hyperbaric chamber to Nhat Nam Medical Equipment, a medical supplier in Hanoi, Vietnam. Bara-Med is expected to be integrated into a clinical management program and provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).
HBOT is a technique of administering 100% oxygen at greater than one atmospheric (ATA) pressure and deliver oxygen in a pressurized chamber at 10-15 times more than at sea level or at normal atmospheric levels.
HBOT helps to heal the conditions of oxygen transport disrupted tissues affected due to traumatic injury, infection, inflammation, or edema and also complements conventional therapies and treatments.
ETC Biomedical Systems said that automated control system called OSCAR, (Operating System for Control And Recordkeeping) is present in every monoplace hyperbaric chamber.
OSCAR also includes a patient friendly pressure-change technology feature, Smooth-Ride, which reduces the risk of complications due to middle ear and sinus barotraumas during compression. It also reduces the risk of air trapping in cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and emphysema, during decompression, without increasing the times of the pressure changes.
Eric Sprague, director of Asia sales, said: “This sale comes as a direct result of the efforts made by our sales and support group in S.E. Asia. We have technical support available in several S.E. Asian countries. The development and expansion of our presence in overseas markets has always been a focus for ETC.”
