The Executive Board of the GCC Health Ministers, 73rd meeting recently in Riyadh, ways to develop health information systems “HIS” in the member countries of the Cooperation Council of the Gulf Arab States (GCC).
The meeting discussed several agenda topics such as the electronic connection between GCC information centers and the executive board, recommendations of the 5th GCC Committee on Developing HIS Systems, under the title “GCC Health Administrative Leadership Development”, according to Director of External Relations and International Organizations and Member of the Executive Board, in a press release. The 2-day meeting of the 5th GCC Committee on Developing HIS Systems was held on November 30th in Dubai under the patronage of Dr Hanif Hassan Ali, UAE Minister of Health in presence of the attendance of Dr. Tawfiq Bin Ahmed Khoja, Director General of the Executive Board, GCC Health Ministers, experts from the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, Arab League and the UK Faculty of Public Health.
Al Budoor added that the executive board discussed other topics such as organ transplants, neurological disorders, fighting non-communicable diseases, diabetes, cancer, smoking, media and health awareness, GCC nursing councils, making GCC countries free of malaria and polio eradication.
Members of the executive board also discussed the unification of purchasing orders and tenders for pharmaceutical products, hospital equipments, medical labs, blood transfusion services, and cardio surgical equipments, blood vessels, x-rays, medical rehabilitation equipments, central pharmaceutical registration, medicine pricing, registration and licensing systems and pharmaceutical care.
The meeting also discussed the arrangements of the forthcoming 70th conference of the GCC Council of Health Ministers scheduled next February in Qatar.
The UAE is the current chair of the 35th GCC Health Council meetings.
