GE Healthcare, the healthcare business of General Electric Company (GE), is highlighting advanced solutions that drive the efficiency of diagnostic imaging at Arab Health 2010. Complementing the company’s ‘healthymagination’ initiative of reducing healthcare costs through timely care, GE Healthcare is highlighting a range of Computed Tomography (CT) imaging solutions.
Among the advanced CT diagnostic equipment is GE’s Discovery CT750 HD, which delivers fine detail and repeatable outcomes – with up to 50% less dose for patients of all ages. The redesigned image chain has the industry’s only Gemstone detector to enable high-resolution images.
Also showcased is GE’s LightSpeed VCT Xte, which performs routine CT imaging as well as superb cardiac and neuro exams to keep the hospital at the forefront of clinical care. Building on the proven legacy of the LightSpeed VCT platform – more than 3,000 users worldwide – this system offers advanced GE HD technologies that enable up to 40% lower dose.
GE Healthcare is also showcasing the Small Giant BrightSpeed Elite with ASiR with its console at Arab Health. ASiR, an exclusive technology to reduce dose on the raw data, is now flown-down on BrightSpeed to make it available and affordable for all customers and patients for all clinical routine exams.
ASiR on BrightSpeed extends low dose reduction up to 40% while maintaining the image quality. By increasing the power of the BrightSpeed, it boosts the power of the generator up to 88KW with less dose. The technological advance also enables Brightspeed Elite with ASiR to increase scanning speed to the equivalent speed of a 50 slices helical scanner. Efficiency, patient comfort, improved positioning with new table, new console for the fastest possible workflow and integrated injector for reliable and easy scanning are other features.
Advantage Workstation VolumeShare 4
The more information an interventional radiologist has about the anatomy of the area to be treated, the more quickly a plan can be made to treat disease, with the least amount of damage to surrounding anatomy. The Advantage Workstation VolumeShare 4 with new multi-modality Image Registration capabilities makes it practical to overlay and match existing 3D images from different modalities, providing complementary information to plan and guide interventional procedure.
GE Healthcare’s Advantage Workstation VolumeShare 4 serves as an option for its multi-modality Advantage Workstation. The VolumeShare 4 multi-modality volume viewer software integrates 3D images from GE’s Innova interventional imaging system, as well as CT, MR, PET and PET/CT datasets to support new interventional visualization functions and analysis that are targeted for planning and navigation during image-guided interventional therapies, as well as monitoring the procedure results.
Future of CT
Over the past several years, CT has continued to demonstrate value due to its versatile diagnostic capability, non-invasive application and ability to visualize fine anatomic detail. Innovative new technologies have provided the ability to reduce dose exposure tremendously.
GE believes further advancements in HD Technologies offer potential for another leap in resolution and reduction of patient dose – even below the level of today’s CT scanners.
“Providing better information to clinicians through High Definition CT images, while at the same time reducing patient dose, has been core to our priorities,” said Steve Gray, Vice President and General Manager, Computed Tomography.
Arab Health, the Middle East’s premier healthcare expo is held from January 25 to 28, 2010, at the Dubai International Convention Center. GE Healthcare is the Platinum Sponsor of the exhibition and the Commercial Gold supporter of three key conferences on Anesthesia, Molecular Imaging & Nuclear Medicine and Middle East Imaging and Diagnostics, being held on the sidelines of the event.
