General Electric Co. and Intel Corp. said Tuesday they will begin marketing Intel’s Health Guide patient monitoring and management system in the United Kingdom.
The system helps monitor the health of patients with chronic illnesses by tracking their health, providing information about disease and allowing two-way videoconferences. GE Healthcare markets the Health Guide in the U.S.
The guide can help patients and health care professionals manage ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, and heart failure, the companies said.
The new marketing agreement broadens GE Healthcare’s U.K. home health business. Intel and GE said 17.5 million adults in the U.K. may have a chronic disease, including a third of people over the age of 75. By 2030, it estimated that the incidence of chronic illness in people over 65 could double.
Intel is based in Santa Clara, Calif., and General Electric is based in Fairfield, Conn.
