Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali, Minister of Health, visited the dental clinic inside the Dubai Club for Special Sports in Al Qusais area in Dubai.
The minister called for achieving cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the club to provide health, therapeutic, treatment and educational services for the special needs categories and benefit from their artistic activities and creativities.
According to the instructions of the minister of health, the ministry will cooperate with the club to prepare a memorandum of understanding to discuss the requirements of the special needs categories and provide them with the most adequate health services. The ministry also aims at encouraging the community to benefit from the artistic works for financial and spiritual purposes.
He said: “The ministry is committed to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khelifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the emirates, to provide a healthy environment for community members noting that the ministry is responsible for providing treatment for UAE locals and residents”.
The ministry’s dental clinic inside the club indicates its efforts to expand medical and health services in different areas and fulfill the requirements of the special needs categories. Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, previously opened the clinic to be the first clinic inside Dubai Special Sports Club in order to provide treatment and preventive services for the special needs categories. The opening came as part of the campaign “You are not alone” that was launched by the ministry last year.
Furthermore, Dr. Fawzia Khalfan, Director of Jumeirah Dental Clinic and Chair of the medical and social committee in Dubai Special Sports Club, said: “The clinic is the first to provide therapeutic treatment for special needs categories in their premises”.
Dr. Khalfaan stated that the clinic is fully financed by UAE businessmen and aims for providing treatment services of the field of dental medicine for special needs categories in order to help avoid the struggle of waiting inside the clinic and establish preventive medicine programs for them.
She also mentioned that the clinic provides regular checkups for special needs categories to avoid gum diseases, tooth diseases and at the same time prepare preventive medicine programs and help them avoid the hassles of transportation to the clinic.
“The Jumeirah Dental clinic has special doctors who are trained in providing checkup for special needs categories inside the Dubai Special Sports Club even after official hours and encourage them to participate in volunteering works”, she concluded.
