Twenty rural South Dakota hospitals will receive a total of $235,857 in grants for technology projects.
“From electronic medical records to telemedicine capabilities, technology plays an ever-increasing role in delivering health care,” Secretary of Health Doneen Hollingsworth said in announcing the grants.
Projects vary from medication dispensing systems to digital fetal monitors.
The grant money comes to the department through the federal Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program. With these latest grants, South Dakota has awarded $3.6 million to rural hospitals through the program during the past 10 years.
