King Fahd Hospital will hold an open day Wednesday, Jan. 19, to inform staff of its plans to seek international accreditation from a well-known United States body.
“Staff awareness, communication and coordination will be discussed on the day.
This is another step forward for King Fahd Hospital to improve and develop its health service to citizens and residents at international standards,” said Dr. Amal Hassan Sultan, molecular biology consultant at King Fahd Hospital and team leader.
“The day is designed to educate hospital staff about the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) for Hospital Accreditation and the requirements for international accreditation,” she explained. Dr. Amal said that there are 14 teams from different disciplines and departments at the hospital who will be working to ensure accreditation takes place.
“The Ministry of Health has always been aware of the importance of not only spreading awareness about disease, but also helping patients recover as fast as possible,” said Sultan.
“The day will include an introduction to the commission and the importance of safety and quality of patient care.”
She added that the commission has received worldwide recognition as an effective quality evaluation and management tool.
