Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today gave instructions to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) to commission a study for the establishment of a hospitals for cancer treatment in Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed made his instructions while he was inaugurating two healthcare centres at Nad Al Hammar and Muzher.
Qadhi Al Marooshid, Director General of DHA, said he would immediately act to put Sheikh Mohammed’s instructions in place, adding that he would lead a team of top-notch experts to conduct the scientific study in a way that caters to severity and prevention of the killer disease.
When completed, he indicated, the study would be raised to Sheikh Mohammed for action.
The opening ceremony was attended by H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai,H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Saeed bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of Dubai Ruler’s Court, Qadhi Al Marooshid, Director General of DHA and a number of senior officials.
Sheikh Mohammed toured the two health facilities and acquainted himself with the advanced medical equipment they have and the packages of healthcare services they provide to patients. The Nad Al Hammar healthcare centre is expected to serve a number of communities populated by over 60000 people.
Later, Sheikh Mohammed viewed the DHA’s map of health facilities and designs of completed and under-construction health projects which Al Marooshid said reflected his directives for expansion of health facilities to provide healthcare and therapeutic services to both citizens and expatriate residents wherever they are.
Spanning about 73,000 square feet, the Nad Al Hammar healthcare centre is manned by about 90 doctors, health professionals and administrators.
The first phase of the centre was completed and the second one will be ready during the fist half of 2011. The centre houses clinics for dental, and ear, nose and throat (ENT) and early breast cancer screening.
The 70,000 square feet Al Muzher healthcare facility is run by a group of 35 medical professionals. With the first phase already on stream, the second phase will be achieved during the first six months of the year.
The centre has the same medical services in addition to the skin clinic.
