Al Ain Hospital has opened two state-of-the-art mammography and ultrasound units at its clinical imaging institute.
The units, equipped with advanced, high-technology devices, will enable the hospital to provide enhanced care for its patients.
George Jepson, CEO of the hospital, said the launch of the units is part of the ongoing process of upgrading services and providing world class health care to the community. “One of the machines is dedicated to ultrasound-guided interventional procedures (tissue biopsies, abscess drainage etc),” he said.
Professor Gerard Schwab, Medical Director of Al Ain Hospital, said the new facility will provide a whole spectrum of diagnostic ultrasound such as abdomen, breast, head and neck, emergency medicine, gynaecology, musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, paediatrics, testicular, thyroid, vascular, urology as well as doppler ultrasound.
The launch of the mammography unit has coincided with heightened awareness of the threat of breast cancer around the world.
