Taibah University in Madinah will organize a two-day conference on Tuesday to discuss medical mistakes from the perspective of Shariah, said Rector Mansour bin Muhammad Al-Nuzha.
He said the conference, under the auspices of Madinah Gov. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed, will discuss more than 50 papers covering Shariah’s take on medical mistakes, medical awareness and other related topics. “The conference will shed light on the most common medical mistakes and will focus on the ethics and skills of Muslim doctors,” he said.
He said the participants will also discuss modalities of accountability in medical malpractice and the role of Shariah authorities in minimizing mistakes.
A number of renowned medical doctors and Shariah scholars, including Grand Mufti of Egypt Ali Jumaah, will participate in the conference.
