Doha, January 03 (QNA) – The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has said that it received 300,000 swine flu vaccine doses from the French Health Ministry. SCH’s Director of Public Health Dr. Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the State of Qatar as part of its recent vaccination campaign bought 300,000 doses from France, adding that Qatar is one of the first countries to receive ample supply of “A/H1N1 vaccine and had purchased such quantity in a record time.
The Director of Public Health also announced that the SCH would soon receive another 300,000 doses from GSK, an international company, followed by other quantities which would be sufficient to immunize all people in Qatar, especially considering the fact that during the winter season flu spreads fast.
“This is why the Supreme Council of Health is working hardly to provide protection and prevention to all people against this disease,” he added.
He noted that that cooperation of the French Health Ministry with the Supreme Council of Health through the provision of such a large quantity of vaccines indicates the distinguished relations between Qatar and France and the continuous coordination between the French Health Ministry and the Supreme Council of Health.
He in this regard praised the efforts of Qatar’s Embassy in Paris in bringing this quantity of vaccines to Qatar.
