Professor Richard Kitney will be delivering the lecture. Professor Kitney is a knowledgeable expert in the biomedical engineering and healthcare field. He has worked on fascinating research projects including arterial disease and cardio respiratory control. This lecture will be followed by the Annual Biomedical Engineering Awards. Presentations will be made to the winners of the
William James Award – awarded to PhD students making contribution toward the development and improvement of the biomedical engineering field
Dennis Hill Award – presented to MSc students for healthcare technology and cognate subjects
J A Lodge Award – an early career award recognising and promoting outstanding work in the field of research and development in Medical Engineering
The evening will provide a great chance to network with healthcare technologists from a variety of backgrounds, in a warm and congenial atmosphere.
About the speaker
Professor Kitney is Professor of BioMedical Systems Engineering in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College, London; he is also Deputy Chairman and Technical and Strategic Director of ComMedica Ltd, as well as the founder of ComMedica. Kitney has worked in BioMedical Engineering and Healthcare for the last 25 years. He has published over 300 papers in the fields of biomedical signal and image processing, medical informatics and the general application of computers to healthcare. He was the Founding Head of the Department of BioEngineering, Imperial College (1991-2001), and is currently Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College.
