Now, you may not need to see a doctor for a minor stomachache. The state government plans to launch a telemedicine helpline which can be accessed by dialling 104.
This was announced by health minister Jay Narayan Vyas. He said that all one needs to do is dial the toll free number and the doctor at the other end will prescribe the medicines. Vyas said the facility will be ready in the next couple of months.
The tenders are already being scrutinised. He said this facility will be extended in the entire state in phases and the expansion would be quicker than that of 108 services. According to Vyas, the state has a shortfall of about 40 per cent MBBS doctors and 60 per cent specialised doctors.
“This 104 service will not only help the poor and those in the rural areas get good treatment but will also save them from spending money on doctors for minor ailments. This is just the first step, later this centre will be associated with the best telemedicine counters available across the globe,” added Vyas.
