The three-day Vocational Health and Safety Conference, organised by Al Mada International Exhibitions Company, delegated by the Vocational Health and Safety Committee, kicked off at Al Bustan Place Hotel yesterday. The ceremony was presided over by Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health.
The conference focuses on the efficiency of the vocational health and safety laws in the Sultanate, the efficiency of the implementation plans and programmes and how to develop them.
Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, member of the board of directors of Al Mada International Exhibitions Company, said that the conference will discuss a number of themes, including the national strategy for vocational health and safety.
On his part, Basil al Nasri, Director-General of Marketing and Media at the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), highlighted the great importance accorded to vocational health and safety on the local and international levels.
He urged all private sector companies to provide insurance which, he stressed, has great significance in preserving the rights of employees. The insurance should cover not only establishments but also employees.
